What we produce

Different projects need different construction.

Page count, paper, quantity, binding and how the piece will be used all affect the right production approach.

Binding

The binding can change the entire piece.

You don't have to know exactly which method you need. We can review the page count, paper, intended use and appearance before determining the appropriate construction.

Saddle Stitch

BOOKLETS · PROGRAMS · CATALOGS

Folded sheets are stitched through the center fold. It is a clean and efficient construction for relatively lower page counts.

The practical page-count limit depends on paper thickness, finished size and the way the piece needs to close.

Perfect Binding

STANDARD / EVA · PUR

Standard perfect binding is a practical choice for many books and catalogs and commonly uses conventional hot-melt adhesive.

PUR binding uses a different adhesive that can provide greater flexibility and bond strength, particularly with coated stocks, heavier coverage or pieces that will see frequent use.

Lay-Flat Binding

SPECIALTY CONSTRUCTION

When a book needs to open significantly flatter across the gutter, a specialty lay-flat construction may be appropriate.

Lay-flat is not simply another name for PUR. The construction of the book itself is different. Availability and the best method depend on the project.

Wire-O & Plastic Coil

MANUALS · WORKBOOKS · CALENDARS

Wire-O uses double metal loops. It provides a clean finished appearance, opens flat and allows facing pages to align well across the binding edge.

Plastic coil opens flat and can fold back on itself. The plastic is more resilient when compressed, making it useful for manuals and frequently handled pieces.

Hardcover / Case Binding

PREMIUM · DURABLE

Case binding creates a rigid hardcover and can be a good choice when durability, presentation or a more substantial finished piece is important.

Depending on the project, options may include printed case wraps, cloth, foil stamping, dust jackets, end sheets and different text-block constructions.

Specialty Binding

WHEN STANDARD ISN'T THE ANSWER

Some projects call for something different—metal spiral, sewn binding, decorative stitching or another specialty construction.

Options such as Japanese or decorative sewing, side sewing, Chicago screws, GBC-style binding and other finishing methods can be reviewed when appropriate.
