Still working it out?

Tell us what the piece needs to do and what decisions are still open.

More than one version?

Versions, quantities by location, packing and distribution can be reviewed with the print project.

The whole project matters

More than putting pages together.

A multi-page project has several decisions that affect one another. Paper changes the thickness and feel of the piece. Page count can affect the binding. Cover construction affects durability. And when several versions are shipping to different locations, packing and distribution may need to be considered before production begins.

You do not need to solve every production detail before contacting us. If the specifications are complete, we can work from them. If some decisions are still open, we can help you narrow down practical options for the project.

What we produce

Different pieces. Different requirements.

The right construction depends on page count, use, quantity, appearance and how the finished piece needs to perform.

Printed UNFI Fresh holiday guide

Catalogs & Booklets

Product catalogs, seasonal guides, programs, lookbooks, marketing booklets and other multi-page pieces. Depending on page count, paper and use, these may be saddle stitched, perfect bound or produced with another appropriate binding.

Fine Art soft cover publication printed by Execuprint

Books & Publications

Soft-cover books, company publications, annual reports, reference materials and longer-form pieces. We can review paper, cover construction and binding around the appearance and durability the finished piece needs.

Printed student training manual

Manuals & Workbooks

Training manuals, operating guides, instructional books, workbooks and reference materials. Coil or Wire-O can be useful when a piece needs to open easily or remain open while it is being used.

Custom wire bound printed calendars

Calendars

Wall calendars and custom calendar formats produced around your finished size, artwork and intended use. Binding, hanging method, paper and finishing can be reviewed as part of the specification.

Binding

Which binding makes sense?

You do not have to decide before asking for pricing. Finished size, page count, paper caliper, quantity, intended use and the appearance you want all help determine the best direction.

01

Saddle Stitch

Folded signatures are stitched through the center fold. A clean, efficient construction for booklets, programs, catalogs and publications with relatively lower page counts.

Page-count limits depend on finished size and paper thickness.

02

Perfect Binding

Creates a square spine and the familiar appearance of a soft-cover book. Often used for thicker catalogs, books, guides, reports and longer publications.

Final spine width should be based on the selected paper and final page count.

03

Wire-O & Plastic Coil

Practical for manuals, workbooks, reference guides and calendars where pages need to turn freely or remain open during use.

Wire and coil size are selected around the finished book thickness.

Paper & finishing

Paper makes a bigger difference than people think.

You do not need to choose from a giant paper list before contacting us. Tell us how the piece will be used, what you want it to feel like, and whether you already have a stock specified.

Uncoated

Useful when readability, writing or a more natural paper feel is important.

Coated

Often selected for catalogs, photography and image-driven work where color reproduction is important.

Covers

A heavier cover can add structure and durability, or the cover can use the same stock as the interior when a self-cover construction makes sense.

Cover protection & finishing

Depending on the project and production method, aqueous, UV, lamination or other finishing options can be reviewed.

When the job gets more involved

Some multi-page projects are not one book going to one address.

When versions, packing or distribution are part of the program, those details can be considered with the print production rather than treated as an afterthought.

01

Multiple versions

Regional, departmental, language or other version changes.

02

Different quantities

Quantities that vary by version, branch, store or location.

03

Kitting

Books combined with other printed or supplied materials.

04

Multi-location

Programs that need to be organized for multiple destinations.

05

Distribution

Packing and shipping requirements reviewed with the project.

If your project has a spreadsheet of versions, quantities or ship-to locations, send it with the specifications. It often tells us as much about the job as the artwork does.

Discuss Your Project

Before production

We look at the details that can affect the finished piece.

Multi-page files have a few production considerations that single sheets do not. We would rather identify a question before production than discover it after the job is underway.

01

Finished size & bleed

Confirm that the supplied artwork is built to the intended trim size with appropriate bleed where required.

02

Page count & sequence

Page count affects construction and may affect binding. Files should be supplied in the intended reading order unless another arrangement has been requested.

03

Cover setup

Self-cover and plus-cover projects are constructed differently. Perfect-bound covers also require an accurate spine.

04

Spine width

For perfect binding, the spine should be calculated after the final paper and page count are established rather than estimated too early in the design process.

05

Versions & revisions

Clearly identify versions and replacement files so the intended artwork can be matched to the correct quantity and destination.
